Sergio Garcia on Tiger Woods: ‘He’s not the nicest guy on tour’

If you thought the sparring between Sergio Garcia and Tiger Woods was done after Sergio blamed Tiger for a bad shot he hit early in his third round of the Players Championship, you were mistaken.

After the horn blew for darkness on Saturday at TPC Sawgrass, Tiger was asked about the incident that happened on the second hole during the third round where Garcia hit a bad shot and immediately looked in Tiger's direction, saying after that he felt like Woods had pulled a club as Garcia was starting to address his ball which got the crowd to cheer in Sergio's backswing.

"The marshals, they told me he already hit, so I pulled a club and was getting ready to play my shot, and then I hear his comments afterwards and (it's) not real surprising that he's complaining about something," Woods said.

Asked after if the two talked about the incident, Tiger said, "We didn't do a lot of talking."

Sergio didn't let Tiger get the last words in on this, telling the media on Saturday evening, "I'm not going to lie, he's not my favorite guy to play with. He's not the nicest guy on tour."

It's an interesting situation between the two biggest names on the leaderboard, but as a fan of golf and competition I must admit, I'm a bit disappointed that Tiger and Sergio aren't paired together this Sunday (both are tied for the lead at 11-under, but Tiger will be in the penultimate grouping with Casey Wittenberg as Sergio plays in the final group with David Lingmerth).

Whatever bad blood there is between Tiger and Sergio has definitely been on display this week, and it doesn't seem either feels the need to back away from the way they feel, even with a microphone in their face.

Now the question is, which one of the two will use this positively? We've seen how Tiger responds in the past to people questioning his game ("9 & 8" comes to mind, as does Rory Sabbatini), but now we get a guy taking on Tiger's character on and off the golf course.

If nothing else, these media blows just makes the final round all the more interesting at TPC Sawgrass.
