(Reuters) - Former European Ryder Cup captain Jose Maria Olazabal booked a place in next month's U.S. Open after coming through 36-hole qualifying and a subsequent playoff at Walton Heath on the outskirts of London on Monday. The 47-year-old was one of 12 players to clinch a spot in the second major of the season at Merion Golf Club in Pennsylvania from June 13-16 after rounds of 68 and 73 gave him a three-under total of 141.
