Ryder Cup scares players to death, says captain Love (Reuters)

LYTHAM ST ANNES, England (Reuters) - The pressure on the opening day of the Ryder Cup "scares players to death" and it is the only competition they really cry about, United States captain Davis Love III said on Wednesday. The 48-year-old American, who will lead the U.S. team against Europe in this year's matches at Medinah Country Club near Chicago, said he would try to deflect some of the pressure away from his players in September. "You are scared to death on the Friday morning of the Ryder Cup," Love told a news conference on the eve of his 26th consecutive appearance in the British Open. ...
