Golf, this is why some people think you might just be a little too hung up on rules. Our scene: the first playoff hole at Sunday's John Deere Classic. Zach Johnson has just hit the ball into the water, and he has to take an astonishing five drops to get the ball placed to the rules officials' satisfaction. Five drops in an area the size of a spare tire. Listen to David Feherty tie himself in knots trying to explain it all ... and trying to rationalize it away.
Anyway, everything worked out for ol' Zach, and he didn't seem particularly rattled by it. Still ... yeesh. There's got to be a better way than this.
